fUNCTIONAL HEALTH COACHING in LOUISVILLE, ky

When Unresolved Health Issues Block Mental Health Progress

As a therapist, you’ve likely seen it—clients working hard in sessions but struggling to make meaningful progress because of underlying physical imbalances. Poor diet, lack of movement, chronic inflammation, and lifestyle stressors can exacerbate mental health challenges, leaving you feeling like you’re fighting an uphill battle.

The truth is, the Standard American Diet—loaded with sugar, chemicals, and inflammatory additives—can disrupt both physical and emotional well-being. When key organs like the liver and kidneys are compromised, your clients’ bodies can’t produce the mood-stabilizing and anti-inflammatory compounds they need to heal.

Functional Health Coaching can help fill this gap.

By addressing these root causes, a Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach can empower your clients to reclaim their health—amplifying the impact of the work you’re already doing. Together, you can create the conditions for deeper, more sustainable mental and physical healing.

Whether you’re in Louisville, KY, or working virtually, Brooke is ready to partner with you to enhance your clients’ outcomes and lighten the load on your practice.

You’re looking for a comprehensive approach that addresses both the mind and body, helping your client achieve the breakthrough they need.

You believe in the power of integrative care and are eager to modernize your practice by incorporating holistic solutions that drive ideal outcomes for your clients.

Healthy Dietary Interventions Can Reduce Depression Risk by 30%—Integrate Nutritional Care for Better Client Outcomes

Imagine your clients breaking through the mental health barriers that have been holding them back. By integrating Functional Health Coaching into their therapy, they can experience noticeable improvements in mood, mental clarity, and emotional resilience. Nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle aren’t just helpful additions or “advised”—they’re the foundation for sustained mental wellness.

  • What if optimizing gut health could drastically reduce the inflammation silently sabotaging your clients’ mood and cognitive function?

  • What if, by addressing the gut-brain axis, you could help your clients not only feel emotionally balanced but also more energized, well-rested, and fully alive?

Partnering with a Nutrition and Lifestyle Coach takes your practice to the next level.

You’d be offering a truly holistic approach—one that complements your therapeutic work by helping clients heal from the inside out. This is the key to unlocking lasting mental and physical well-being.

Reduces Chronic Inflammation:

Chronic inflammation can weigh heavily on your clients, particularly those facing conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or autoimmune disorders. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) offers relief by gently stimulating the lymphatic system to remove excess fluid and toxins, easing inflammation and providing much-needed relief for those managing long-term health challenges.

Enhances Immune Function:

A strong immune system is crucial for overall well-being, and MLD can help by optimizing the flow of lymph fluid, the body’s natural defense mechanism. By supporting efficient lymphatic movement, MLD enhances your clients' immune response, helping protect against infections and promoting a more resilient body.

Alleviates Stress and Anxiety:

For clients grappling with chronic stress or anxiety, the calming, rhythmic touch of MLD can be transformative. By activating the parasympathetic nervous system, MLD naturally reduces cortisol levels, encouraging deep relaxation and restoring a sense of calm.

Supports Post-Surgical Recovery:

Whether your clients are recovering from breast cancer or cosmetic surgeries, MLD is an essential tool for reducing post-surgical swelling and speeding up healing. The gentle stimulation of the lymphatic system helps minimize discomfort and promotes quicker recovery, offering both physical relief and emotional reassurance during the healing process.

Improves Skin Health and Detoxification:

Give your clients the gift of glowing from the inside out. By flushing out toxins and excess fluids, MLD naturally enhances skin tone, reduces puffiness, and promotes a healthier, more vibrant complexion. It’s a gentle, effective way to support detoxification while boosting your clients’ outward appearance and inner health.

Addresses Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia:

For clients suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia, MLD can provide relief by reducing muscle pain, stiffness, and fatigue through the gentle stimulation of the lymphatic system.

Regulates the Nervous System:

MLD’s soothing techniques help regulate the vagus nerve, an essential player in managing stress and emotional resilience. For clients with PTSD or trauma-related conditions, MLD can ease tension and improve emotional stability, making it a powerful tool in their journey to recovery and well-being.

Safe Touch for Trauma Survivors:

For trauma survivors, trust in their own bodies can feel lost. MLD provides a gentle, non-invasive way to reintroduce safe, therapeutic touch. This nurturing technique helps rebuild a sense of trust and security within their own bodies, fostering healing in a respectful, trauma-informed manner.

  • Functional Health Coaching is a forward-looking approach that emphasizes self-discovery, empowerment, and sustainable lifestyle changes.

  • I will never tell clients what, when or how much to eat.

Depending on what is going on I can provide guidelines, suggests, our talk about different food philosophies (gluten free, paleo, intermittent fasting, etc.)

It is my intention to assist clients in increasing their awareness so that they can determine how certain foods affect them.

  • As a mental health professional, your role is crucial in identifying clients who may benefit from a holistic, integrative approach. You’ll provide insight into their mental health needs, and we’ll collaborate to develop a complementary wellness plan. Your involvement helps ensure that our coaching and somatic therapies align seamlessly with your existing treatment plans, enhancing overall client outcomes.

  • Clients can expect a supportive partnership where they are in control of their wellness journey.

We’ll create a personalized plan focused on their goals, with ongoing sessions that include mindfulness exercises, breathwork, and progress reviews to help them achieve lasting change.

  • Virtual Functional Health Coaching sessions are conducted via Zoom, making it easy and convenient for clients to participate from anywhere. During these sessions, clients receive the same personalized support and guidance as they would in person. We utilize video conferencing to create an interactive experience, where we discuss goals, track progress, and engage in practices like mindfulness and breathwork. The virtual format allows for flexibility while maintaining the effectiveness of the coaching process.

Somatic Breathwork

  • Somatic Breathwork involves using breathwork and body awareness to help clients release stored trauma and regulate their nervous system. It’s a holistic approach that doesn’t require revisiting past events or “getting into the story” but focuses on undigested eMOTION, allowing the nervous system to safely discharge and the nervous system to regulate.

  • Somatic Breathwork supports mental health by addressing the body’s physical responses to trauma and stress. Through breathwork and body-focused techniques, it helps clients achieve emotional regulation and resilience, enhancing the effectiveness of traditional therapy.

  • Clients typically lie down in a comfortable position while being guided through breathwork exercises. The session may involve music, light touch (with permission), and guidance on breath patterns. The goal is to help the body release tension and return to a state of calm.

A discharge can be anything your body needs to do to release stored e-motion (energy in motion).  That can be anything from crying, shaking, using the voice. As a Somatic Breathwork facilitator, I will contain the discharge so that they never overwhelm your client’s system.

Safe discharge is slowly letting the air out of the balloon. If the discharge is not controlled but let go in a chaotic manner, the nervous system can become overwhelmed and potentially overwhelm the client.

  • Somatic Breathwork is generally safe, but it may not be suitable for individuals with certain cardiovascular issues, high blood pressure, recent surgeries, or are pregnant. It’s important to assess each client’s individual health status before starting therapy.

  • Virtual Somatic Breathwork sessions are conducted via Zoom. Clients position their camera to allow the facilitator to observe their physical state. The therapist provides real-time guidance on breath patterns and pacing, ensuring clients feel supported and safe throughout the session. While physical touch isn't possible, the therapist’s verbal cues and presence help create a healing environment.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MDL)

  • MLD is a gentle, non-invasive massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, helping to remove toxins, reduce swelling, and promote overall healing. It’s particularly beneficial for clients recovering from surgery, dealing with chronic inflammation, or managing stress.

By placing a stretch on the skin, we are able to assist the capillaries and vessels open up allowing the lymphatic fluid to pass through. The lymph system does not have a pumping mechanism like the circulatory system.  The circulatory system relies on heart to move blood. The lymph system relies on muscular contraction.

Normal Lymph flood moves at about 10-12 beats per minute. With MLD, we can increase the velocity up to 120 beats per minute. If there is an obstruction in the flow of lymph, it can back up creating swelling, edema, adhesions, fibroids, infection, etc.

  • No. MLD is a very light but effective massage technique. I apply about the weight of a nickel to create a stretch on the skin. Any heavier, we are bypassing the lymph system and treating the muscle.

  • MLD can significantly reduce cortisol levels, which helps in managing stress, anxiety, and depression. By regulating the parasympathetic nervous system, it also aids in creating a sense of calm and well-being, making it an excellent complement to mental health treatments.

  • During an MLD session, clients can choose to remain clothed or disrobe under sheets. The technique involves light, rhythmic movements that encourage lymphatic flow, with the goal of reducing inflammation and supporting the body’s natural healing processes.

  • People can have many different responses to MLD.

Some have a great increase of energy, some people need to take a nap. Some people don’t feel anything, that does not mean the lymph isn’t moving.

Some people simply notice an increase in urination or even an odor. Some clients might experience a headache or a relief in allergy symptoms. It really depends on the level of debris that needs to be processed out the of the body.

  • MLD is most effective when performed in person due to the hands-on nature of the therapy. While virtual guidance can be provided for self-care techniques, the benefits of professional, hands-on MLD are unmatched, especially for those with trauma or chronic conditions.
